Nawa Nidhi Dahal

Nawa Nidhi Dahal was born in Khotang, eastern Nepal, on July 1, 1989. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies in 2014. He is an alumnus of the Locarno Open Doors Lab (2018), Produire au Sud (2018), Busan Asian Film School (2018), and the Global Media Makers (2019). In 2017, he founded his production company, Simal Cinema, and began with producing short films.

As a producer he is currently developing the feature fiction, Where Does the Marsyangdi River Flow to? by Manoj Babu Panta. He is also developing his new short film, Nitya Nutan. He co-wrote the short film Summer of Goodbyes by Minsho Limbu, which was selected at the Drama Pitching Lab, 45th Drama International Short Film Festival, 2022, in Greece.

He films portray the authenticity and uniqueness of Nepal ranging various themes like nostalgia, identity, kinship etc. He has produced several internationally acclaimed films and the credit includes:

Songs of Clouds (2020), short fiction by Ankit Poudel Premiered at 35th Sundance Film Festival, Palm Springs International Short Fest, Doku Fest International Documentary and Short Film Festival and Montreal Festival of New Cinema.

One Night in Kathmandu (2019), feature fiction by Mohan Rai premiered at Brooklyn Film Festival and 25th Kolkata International Film Festival.

The Remains (2018), short fiction by Manoj Babu Panta premiered at screened at 68th Melbourne International Film Festival, 49th Tampere Film Festival, won special mention at 25th ifva awards Asian New Force category and Grand Jury Prize at 3rd Nepal America International Film Festival.
